To accelerate the digitalization process the source material is usually captured as one or several large piecesoperate with such source files can be rather difficult. Instead of one long clip it would be desirable to have a set of short clips, each one containing one single "scene". This is the task that can be accomplished by HandySaw DS. The program offers two methods of detection of scenes in the videofile.

 Nice idea but unstable with different formats.Can´t handle .vro or renamed mpg files.
 I have not had time to look more closely, but it failed for me. The text report gave the clips accurately but the video clips always returned a single, presumably recombined, clip. Just what I already had in fact.I am using Windows 7, perhaps that is it.
 Great software, especially when u forget to capture clips with scene detection turned on in Premiere or Edius.Edius 5.5 does not recognize the edius edl exported by Handysaw (It can`t reconnect the media)I just added another AV track with the original clips above and cut them manually using the edl as reference. It`s a workaround.
 HandySaw does exactly what is says it does, and appears to do it well. The problem I have is your site declares it to be freeware, whereas it is actually a crippleware demo. A fully working version costs 54 euros.

 The DSS File Converter 2011.01 is very user friendly. I use it to convert .DS2 files to .WAV files for my transcription work.
 It\'s a handy program, but I\'m not happy I have to pay for it every 12 months. It\'s not as if it is upgraded/updated and the latest downloaded program has not altered since the one I purchased a year ago. Surely once purchased, this software should NOT have to be paid for annually. It\'s pretty basic and I\'ve never had to keep paying over and over for other software that does so much more, other than AV software--which is understandable as it is continuously being updated with the advent of new viruses, etc.
Sir,I have downloaded the trial version and it is not working;when I copy the file to be converted there is a password which I do not hv;pl guide me to use the trial version.ThanksK Sundararaman
